Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20 1964) is an American politician and attorney who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official in the United American. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she was a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected the district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as a senator in the United States Senate. As senator, she fought for healthcare reform, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path towards citizenship for immigrants without a legal status, the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings earned the attention of the nation, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
