She was previously a presidential candidate for Senate in the United States, and a TV presenter on MSNBC. The show then invited her to star in #whatshappening's daily Twitter series in 2017. In 2013, Essrig came out publicly as bisexual on The Rubin Report. Essrig has been a vocal supporter of body shame, bullying, bi-erasure, sexual assault, and body shaming since then.
